Honey, It is worth your money!

Ever wondered, how Professor Sprouts and Madam Pomfrey, from the Harry Potter series, healed deadly spells or injuries and ailments with some magical herbs like a Floo Grass, Jumbly Gum Tree, Merweed or Mandrakes? We often crave to gain access to the realms of these magical herbs from Hogwarts.

In doing so, we ignore our muggle world which boasts of such a tradition. There is a mention of them in our scriptures too, for instance, in Ramayan Hanumanji gets ‘sanjivani booti’ to cure Laxman.

A mundane reference to prove my point would be the often tried and tested, turmeric powder and sandalwood powder paste for a glowing skin. The usage frequency of such home remedies, as prescribed by our mothers or grandmothers, is high. Surprisingly, they have not undergone Professor Sprouts’ trainings.

These are glimpses of the knowledge of home remedies derived from Ayurveda passed on through generations. Ayurveda is formed from the Sanskrit words ayur (life) and veda (knowledge) which aptly describe the essence of this ancient Indian system of medicine. This rich knowledge teaches us about the goodness of our very own nature.

The food habits are driven by the seasons. We should eat lot of ghee during winters and shed calories during summers. There are foods for summers and certain items ideal for winter. But, in the recent past we have seen a lot of people going for various sort of diets to loose weight. Which is not good for body and mind. It is thus very important to know the benefits of a balanced healthy diet and the nutritional compromises of a crash diet.

Many studies shown that honey is nothing but a natural sweetener. It should be included in your healthy weight-loss program. Unlike other artificial sweetners  this contains fructose and glucose which is akin to sugar. Meanwhile, it is also a known fact that sugar goes through a manufacturing process that destroys the majority of vitamins, enzymes, nitrogen elements and organic acids.

People often go for crash diets, diet plans, and think that if they stop eating, they will lose weight faster. What we forget is the importance of nutrition.  Our body needs certain amount of fibre, vitamins, calories and minerals for proper functioning. By going for crash diets we are taking a setep towards weakening our immune system.  Hence the need for healthy weight-loss program which should reduce the daily calorie intake.  It will automatically focus on how to burn additional calories through physical exercise.

The most important thing to do is to start fresh and start early. Which is only possible if you begin your day with a glass of luke warm lemon juice or water with a little honey (Dabur) as an anti-cellulite treatment and to increase your metabolism. It should also be included in a healthy weight-loss program.

Another great recipe to healthy use of honey in your diet is -- combine honey with cinnamon and water: one cup of boiling water mixed with a teaspoon of cinnamon powder. Once you manage to mix these ingredients properly you should cover it and leave it for about half an hour. The mixture then needs to be filtered. Now the most important part giving it the tinge of sweetness from nature add a teaspoon of honey and you are done.  For this drink tow work magic it is important to drink it 30 minutes before eating breakfast, on an empty stomach.

This is the reason that one should go for a healthy honey diet because it is so good for your body’s digestive function. You can even try a teaspoon after eating lunch or dinner, especially when you eat too much. Honey is definitely worth every penny. A smart investment.
